Seriously!!

How could I let the entire summer (and most of spring) go by without even one single post?? I am such a slacker. A few days ago my dad brought down copies of some short personal histories on my great grandparents and a great aunt. I loved reading about them and then starting feeling guilty that I wouldn't be leaving my "posterity" with much. I remember through high school and college I would keep a journal  regularly. I would post things on the pages that I thought were funny (like comic strips) or tickets stubs, etc. Then I look at how my kids love to look through old picture albums and got to thinking of how different things are now days with the technology. I don't think I like it. Everything is digital now. The pictures and videos get taken, sometimes downloaded to the computer, then stored away and never seen. I miss having the photo albums around and the old home movies on VHS tapes to stick in and watch. Even our journaling is done on blogs or facebook now. How will it be in the future when our grandkids are looking through our history? Will it all be done on the computer and going back in history on Facebook's timeline? I think I am going to try and make more of an effort to actually write things down and print things out....

Anyway, here's a few pictures and highlights of our summer! Warning- this is one long post!

Logan- Bingham Baseball
Indians

Logan had lots of fun in baseball this year. He loved his coach and his team. They worked really hard and only lost one game. They took First Place in their league. Logan had some good hits- including a home run. He played 3rd base most of the season and also pitched during some of the games.

Sam, Logan and Spence's Birthday Bash!
June 2, 2012

We had one combined party for June birthdays since they all fall in the first 4 days of June. We had friends over for lunch and a waterslide. It was fun!

Nathan's Eagle Court of Honor
June 10, 2012

Nathan received his Eagle Badge- finally! I was so glad to get that over with. I am also proud of Nathan and the example he is setting for his younger siblings. :-)

Evanston High School 20th Class Reunion
July 6-7, 2012

Wow! Twenty years since I graduated high school! I debated on whether or not to attend my class reunion- but so glad that I went. It was fun to see old friends and reconnect. I think we have all aged extremely well. :-) Here are a few of my closer friends from school.

Independence Day!
July 4, 2012

To celebrate America's Birthday we had a BBQ and Fireworks over at Spence's parents house in Murray with some of the family. The kids had lots of fun and everyone loved Uncle Mike's grilling!

Deseret News 10K Run!
July 24, 2012

To celebrate Pioneer Day- I participated in my first ever 10K run with my sisters-in-law Camille and Michelle. I was very nervous but so so glad I overcame my fear and did it! It was a lot of fun and I was proud that I ran the entire thing. I ran it in 57:45 minutes. After the race we went and had a big breakfast to replace all the calories we just burned. :-)

Later that night we had more of Uncle Mike's fabulous grilling at Spence's parents' house and more fireworks and fun for the kids! I love living in Utah and having this extra summer holiday. :-)

Boise, Idaho Trip

The kids and I drove to Boise, ID to visit my mom for about 5 days. The car ride about put me over the edge! My children do not travel well to say the least. On the trip home the highlight of the trip was when Sam threw up all over. Luckily we were close to an exit and a Flying J to clean him and his carseat up. It was oh so pleasant! While at mom's the kids swam at the pool at her apartment complex and we also went to a waterpark while there. It was nice to get away.

Lagoon!
August 10, 2012

We went to Lagoon with my two brothers, Spencer and Jared, and their families. It was a lot of fun. Sam surprised me and loved all the kiddie rides. Logan and Claire also surprised me and loved all the big rides! I went on the Wicked first and right off the bat hurt my neck. I cannot take amusement rides any more- I am too old and have a weak stomach. :-)

Misc Stuff

Other happenings: Bowling, Swimming (lots of times), library trips, Wheeler Farm, had two of my nieces stay with us for a few days, Nate got his first (AND ONLY!) speeding ticket, playing in water in backyard and on trampoline.... Oh- and Spence worked all summer long. :-(

Whew! All caught up now and ready for school to start! First day of school pictures will be the next post!
