Surfing
So I've been doing a lot of blog hopping lately- poking my nose around in other people's business. Does anyone else do this and get depressed? It makes me feel like a failure parent (or lazy parent) because I don't do daily summer activities with my children, I'm not crafty, I can't come up with any cutsie ideas, etc. How do some people come up with some of the things they make and market?? I was on Etsy and searching through things in Utah. My hell- there is even someone called "auntflow" who makes pretty sanitary napkins! Who thinks of that and who the heck buys them?? Ugh! Where is my million dollar idea?

Come on mom, cheer up, you're a GREAT parent and we love you. You don't need lots of crafts, your love and affection that you already show us more then doubles what those would do, not to mention your cooking. ;) We love you the way you are. :) And we got the cleanest house I've ever seen, hows that lazy????
crafts shmafts. I personally loathe them. you are a fabulous mom...but I totally do the same thing! comparing ourselves to others is such a dangerously depressing thing to do. I try not to...but it's so hard not to!
Way to go Nathan! Jackie, you are not a lazy mom by any means. You do so many fun things with your kids. My kids tell me about stuff all the time. Anyway, just come over to my house and you'll feel soooo much better. As for crafty and cutise...look these up in the dictionary and they say, "Not Laura." Oh, and if you do find that million dollar idea we'll be right here rooting for you!
Okay...You totally got my attention with "pretty sanitary napkins." I had to got to Etsy and look them up. I never in my life ever considered buying cloth pads! I just figured disposable feminine products is one of the luxuries of living in 2008. That was hilarious. For what it's worth - I'm pretty sure adorable sanitary products is not exactly a million dollar idea.
I do blog surf, and I occasionally get wrapped up in the comparison game, but mostly I just figure that those people who only blog about their perfect lives aren't telling the whole story or else they definitely aren't being 100% honest. Sometimes, I think I err on the side of telling only the disasters of the day.
I decided a couple of years ago that there are just some things I can't (don't or won't) do. Crafts is one of them. It is neither my talent nor my interest. So, my children are extremely deprived. Oh well! You win some - you lose some. I think you are a very involved mother. You are always taking your kids on fun outings, and you are officially the "Treat Queen" of the neighborhood. You have a very special place in the hearts of all of our children!
p.s. I meant to copy your "Recipe of the Week" last week, but I didn't get around to it. Can you please send it to me again?
Emily- I need your email address for the recipe. I thought I had it but I don't... (Was it the chicken recipe?)
Jackie,
I was on ETSY yesterday and saw those sanitary napkins too! I thought who would ever? I bet she sells tons!
I was just looking today and asked a lady tosend me her list of fun things to do this summer with your kids. I can copy others very well. I'll let you know if there is anything interesting for us lazy moms.
BTW I think you are a great mom, and there is no better testimonial than Nathan's.

Yes - It was the chicken recipe.
Tera - You should post that list on your blog.
Jackie,
SO I was talking to Cami about the coton sanitary napkins, don't you think it would be a great way to have a real experience for the girls on trek? Maybe you should make up a few just in case lol!
Emily, I will if it is any good!
Then, I was telling Curtis about them, and so I went on to show him, just for laughs, try to search for sanitary napkins on etsy and see just how many kinds there are. I can't even imagine.
Tera- Um...I don't think I like the idea of them on trek. LOL
And yes, I think you should post the list of fun things to do on your blog. I have found a few things also. I liked the idea of reading a book each day and finding a craft to go along with it. But, I have to copy someone else's idea....nothing wrong with that though eh?
What the heck is ETSY? Now I am going to have to look it up!

Bet you feel loved now mom, look at all these caring people around you.
Hi! Just wanted to say thanks for your comment on SuperMom Central! This is a darling blog - where did you find such a cute background? I, like you, have a love/hate relationship with blog hopping. It's so fun to network with other moms, but so easy to feel like you don't measure up. I've found that my favorite blogs are those that tell it like it really is - the good, the bad, the ugly. Those are the reads that make me feel uplifted about being in the Motherhood trenches.
